Mt Takao(\u9ad8\u5c3e\u5c71\uff09is listed in the 100 mountains of Japan and is one of the easily accessible mountains from Tokyo. It takes around 1 hour 15 minutes by train from Tokyo Station to the Takaosanguchi\u3000Station(\u9ad8\u5c3e\u5c71\u53e3\u99c5\uff09. One has a choice to ride the Cable Car or the Chain Lift from there and then walk another 50 minutes to get to the top of the mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitor also has the option of hiking all the way to the peak (599 metres) through a few mostly comfortable hiking routes. The serious hiker also has the option of going all the way to Mt Jimba(\u9663\u5834\u5c71\uff09which is a return trip of 5 hours from the peak of Mt Takao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mt Takao is one of the recommended viewing spot for the Autumn Colours and though we went in early Autumn we could still watch some of the colourful scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The autumn colours peak in late November, and the mountainside will be a palette of exuberance, people and colours intertwining inseparably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Statues and shrines dot the hiking course reminding the visitor that it is a holy mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
